Unlike Teflon, LOUISE STURHLING Ceramic coating is derived from Natural Earth clay and is Inherently free of chemicals like BPA, PFOS or PFOA. Ceramic coated surfaces do not release toxic fumes at high temperatures that may affect the respiratory health of pets, especially exotic bird pets.
Ceramic coating material is produced through a “High Temperature/Pressure” process where Carbon-Silicon bonded atoms in clay are rearranged into a more stable lattice structure that allows for extreme strength and durability. Depending on the purification method adopted during manufacturing, Ceramics may have residual Lead (Pb) and/or Cadmium (Cd) as undesirable impurities. To control these toxins in Ceramic coatings, regulators set guidelines for acceptable limits to be no more than 0.5 mg/ml.
